How This Project Is Creating Meaningful Change

- We contact select publishers 1-2 times annually with instances of bias submitted requesting revisions to their educational resources
- Success! A publisher of a widely used textbook in schools of nursing and medicine across the US and internationally agreed to address all 17 instances of bias submitted from students, staff and faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year and revise future editions of the textbook. This publisher also requested ongoing feedback from our project regarding additional instances of bias submitted.
- Instances of bias submitted are provided to faculty to support the iterative alignment of curriculum with anti-racist and DEI principles.
- Project team members provide consultation to faculty to support curriculum revisions based on instances of bias submitted
- Manuscript submitted to a top peer-reviewed nursing journal, currently under review
- Currently, applying for IRB exemption status for QI project.
